Description

Proven-effective, fast-acting techniques to rewire your brain and heal from the effects of trauma.

Do you struggle with the ongoing effects of trauma? If you have experienced a traumatic event, or suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), you may believe that you’re permanently damaged; that the anxiety, self-doubt, depression, and fear will never go away. The truth is that it’s possible to rewire your brain, so you can free yourself from the past, find healing, and live for the future. This workbook will show you how.

In The EMDR Workbook for Trauma, you’ll discover a complete program to help you get in touch with, understand, and heal from the beliefs, feelings, and bodily sensations connected to your trauma. You’ll learn to work through past or current trauma using emotion regulation and grounding techniques, and identify the specific triggers, limiting self-beliefs, and symptoms standing in between you and lasting peace of mind. You’ll also discover how to cultivate compassion for yourself when you’re feeling stuck. Finally, you’ll find tons of tips, tools, checklists, and worksheets to lead you step by step as you process, heal, and journey toward a life free from the effects of trauma.

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is proven-effective, fast-acting treatment. Unlike other approaches for treating trauma, EMDR not only treats the symptoms, but helps you identify and resolve the underlying causes so you can safely process your traumatic memories. Using the EMDR techniques in this book—such as bilateral knee tapping and other variations of bilateral stimulation—you can actually train your brain to rewire itself and return to normal functioning, despite negative past experiences.

If you’re ready to address your trauma with confidence, this workbook will gently lead you on the path to healing.

  1. This book is practical, challenging and extremely helpful in navigating your way through difficult relationship, whether you yourself suffer from trauma or are living with people who do. If this book were in the hands of the masses, I believe families would be healthier and happier and the world would be much safer place.

The EMD Workbook for Trauma and PTSD gives you real life tools to free yourself from victimhood by facing your pain and healing all those wounded parts. It’s a resource to help and understand those who suffer and don’t know why. It’s a priceless gift worth giving over and over to clients, family members or friends. If there was ever a book on why hurting people hurt others, this is it.

Talented Megan Boardman/Salar will give you clinical help in a non-threatening, supportive and understanding role as if you’re sitting by a warm fire and talking with a close friend. She exposes your wounds and helps you bandage them up ever so gently, so you are empowered to brave your future. This is a breakthrough for therapists who really want their clients to heal.

Megan Salar is a brilliant author and has mastered the art in compassionately sharing decades of knowledge with the rest of us. She challenges you to stand strong and take ownership of your actions and reactions and how they relate to past events. Don’t stay stuck. Learn how to see yourself with value and respect so you can have healthy relationships and true empathy for others. This profound work shows you how to overcome childhood traumas. Learn to trust again. Knowledge is powerful.

Read this book and reclaim your life! I especially found helpful the workbook questions after each chapter and the exercises that go along with it. Chapter 4 was genius. This book is a complete and wonderful gift.

Megan Salar explores ways for you to navigate your past, live in the present and invigorate hope for your future. She will show you how to trust yourself as you navigate your pain with useful resources and tools that actually work in real life. Thank you for sharing your many years of clinical experience with the rest of us. You taught us well.

  2. I had no idea what to expect with this EMDR Workbook. Though I have completed some EMDR myself in a therapy environment. I definitely feel like it is always a good idea to see a therapist as you complete this workbook. However, this book is such a great resource for those doing EMDR. I felt like I was way more mindful of the process of EMDR as I read this book. I recommend this to anyone who wants to have a more tangible way to go through therapy. Often times in therapy we do not get handouts or worksheets. This is a great way for patients to reflect and go through EMDR exercises on their own after an appointment. I would hope that more therapists might consider offering or referring patients to using this valuable resource. I also think this would be a great book to also listen to through an audiobook.

  3. This book is well written, informational, accessible, and practical. It hits all the high notes for what I would want in a workbook and I like having EMDR being brought in as a tool that can be used at home. The activities and reflections are accessible and meaningful. I’d recommend this book.

  4. This book is well written by a great clinician. I am an LCSW therapist trained by Megan in EMDR, and I find the book very thorough and helpful, especially as a newer EMDR therapist myself. I completely disagree with another review referring to it as a, “coping skills book.” It is without a doubt directly related to the practice of EMDR. Thank you Megan, for inspiring me to continue doing my own healing, and teaching me the knowledge I need to assist my clients in their journey to heal!

  5. Megan crafted a well written, easy to use workbook to help both the client and EMDR clinician navigate the nuances of EMDR perfectly! Thank you and Bravo Megan!!! Tamara L. Aviles, LCSW-C
