This is a very helpful book for busy mental health professionals. I like the activities and will use this book often.

  2. James R. Warner (verified owner)

This book provides an empirically supported approach to many of life’s problems written in both a way for clients to understand and as a useful guide for clinicians.

  3. Kia (verified owner)

You will not regret purchasing this book.

During my practicum and internship for my master’s counseling program I worked at an inpatient psych hospital and purchased this book for use in group therapy. I went back to its pages over and over and would recommend it to anyone who works with groups or individuals in a CBT framework.

  4. M Burton (verified owner)

I have used several of the exercises with groups and individuals and have been pleased with the results.
The toolbox contains a variety of worksheets that are easy to adapt to different populations. I work in the addictions field as well as using this in my private practice.

  5. Whitney (verified owner)

As a beginning therapist this workbook gives me a great beginning to how to help my clients. It is broken up into different issues and seems like it will be very helpful

  6. Jennie (verified owner)

Contains a great many activities that work well with teens and young adults. Easy to use and the activities are engaging for the clien.

  7. Thandica Griffith (verified owner)

It was concise with simple language and explanations. It is a great asset for beginning counsellors especially as it relates to conceptualizing a client’s problems along with the overall treatment process. The layout of the book was easy to follow and the diagrams are easy to understand and explain to others. It was a great investment.

  8. Phaly (verified owner)

It’s an awesome resource book but too complicated for the students that I work with.

  9. Kmen Park (verified owner)

Over the years I’ve bought probably half a dozen workbooks on different angles and populations. This one supplies me with pretty much everything I need and I consider it over all the best one. I’m now using it with all of my clients that need a through treatment of the subject, CBT.

  10. Willette P. Carlyle (verified owner)

Very easy to follow. The tools provided are easy to explain. My clients understood and enjoyed the assignments. In the past, I’ve used at least 3 other workbooks that had too much information which can be overwhelming for some readers. But this workbook was simple and kept the attention of the client. Most importantly, they completed the assignments and returned them. The content of the workbook provided insight into my clients problem; it gave them a better understanding. What I would like to see added to this book is a CD with reproducible forms.

  11. shopper (verified owner)

I have bought a number of books for my collections on hypnosis and psychology. Most are good enough to at least have a point of view and share that with me – so I think that it worth the read.

  12. catchdatdeal2 (verified owner)

The book is very useful and informative

  13. Yessenia guglielmi (verified owner)

Excellent- useful- easy for clients to understand

  14. E Fink (verified owner)

Love this book. I am a mentor in a middle school and needed material to use to help a student work through negative self talk. This book lays out the chapters by the behavior needing attention, so it is easy to find the area I am looking for. Print in narrative areas is a bit small, but not a deal breaker by any means. Material print is plenty big and easy to read. I am not a clinician, but it is very easy to understand for a beginner like myself.

  15. Brittany Seese (verified owner)

Perfect for beginning counselors! This book breaks down CBT techniques for clients with easy to use worksheets! It has a wide variety of topics such as stress management, depression, communication skills, anxiety, etc. I found this to be very useful with a wide variety of clients!

  16. Ouzola Customer (verified owner)

    great show

  18. mia (verified owner)

Great book, it arrived in 2 days due to prime membership. I have been looking for a good CBT book to use for my chemical dependency clients. I will be able to pull so many great activities and ideas from this book to help my clients. I am happy that I found this book. It was in excellent condition even though it is soft cover.

  19. kimintheboro (verified owner)

The CBT Toolbox addresses many of the major problems one might find in a counseling practice. I have not used it yet, but the exercises seem to be relevant and useful. The only complaint would be that the exercises are repetitive, the exact same exercises for each of the problem areas over and over again. They could have saved some paper. All in all though, the workbook would be useful in a private practice and I would recommend it.

  20. Elizabeth (verified owner)

Terrific workbook! A very helpful adjunct to my existing therapy. Even my therapist praises it. Having the book to utilize between therapy sessions has proven invaluable to me. I find that being able to locate the chapter concerning my current nemesis and having all relevant tools and worksheets within is incredibly helpful and proves easy to use. Thank you.

Three of my friends also love this book and find it useful with their therapists as well.

  21. Solomon Berewa (verified owner)

It was very informative and helpful for my therapy sessions. Worksheets were easy to use.

  27. C. Kellogg (verified owner)

Excellent book! Found lots of great exercises to use for my patients. The description of CBT in the book was very understandable for those I work with.

  28. Jeffrey Carpenter (verified owner)

just as it says. the content of this book could be better, with more/varied interventions. it’s basically the same behavioral techniques over and over, with a different way of thinking about them (cognition). overall, it’s a good book and a couple of my clients have found it useful.

  29. AHThorn (verified owner)

A great resource. I use in a school setting and in private practice. Relatable. Easy to use. Effective.

  30. Dr Abe (verified owner)

Excellent book in terms of activities for clients/patients to deal with self-esteem, anxiety etc.

  31. Jesse Anthony (verified owner)

I love this book. I am currently in graduate school for LPC and school counseling. I find uses in both areas.

  32. Ouzola Customer (verified owner)

I like how it is broken down into sections (Ex: anger, self-esteem) and has great things i can use. The worksheets all go together and can easily be explained as the wording is very clear in the worksheets.

  33. Fabulous Girl (verified owner)

CBT made simple. Very easy book to use and straight to the point. The instructions in the worksheets for clients are easy to follow. I love it. Thank you Dr Riggenbach

  34. Carolyn Edwards (verified owner)

As a therapist and school counselor I was able to incorporate some of the techniques in the CBT workbook to help build self-esteem, challenge distorted thoughts and promote confidence when counseling clients and students.

  35. Jesse Heckman (verified owner)

    Great

  36. Suzy Q (verified owner)

I think I’ve ordered this 3 times, lots of useful printable homework assignments.

  37. Alex (verified owner)

Really straightforward and easy to use. Works both for therapist information and clients. Examples provided in the book help show how to use each skill.

  38. Sarah (verified owner)

simplifies a lot of stressors into bite sized pieces to tackle over time. I’m not sure it gives a really comprehensive attack strategy but it is a very good foundation. It is important to be simple when you or some one else is being overwhelmed, so I’d say this is best for people with anxiety or have anxiety as an additional symptom to some other diagnosis.

bottom line, a good tool best used with other tools, look up ‘anxiety thought traps’ and you’ll find other ways that your thought process may contribute to unhealthy mood swings itself.

  39. Anna Escobar (verified owner)

I’ve used several CBT books and this is one is great because the exercises are helpful without all the reading.

  40. Cassandra (verified owner)

I use this all the time with my clients. It’s very easy for clients to use and it forces them to dig deeper. Very often I have to hunt this book down because any one of my colleagues had borrowed it. They have promised me they will buy their own copy. Lol
One complaint I have is that a chapter may refer to an earlier chapter. I prefer to use the chapters as stand alone exercises that are specific to a given client’s needs.

  41. Ouzola Customer (verified owner)

    Good

  42. Niccit (verified owner)

If you’re a CBT clinician this is perfect! It offers a breadth of different cbt exercises that are highly applicable for many diagnoses. A great buy!!

  43. Ladycat (verified owner)

This text contains some useful tips, and strategies for applying CBT in practical applications.

    Pros. Easy to follow.
Client friendly and not over technical on language
    Simple teaching methods.

Cons. Must have a knowledge of CBT prior to use.
    Some lessons are to long

  44. Lohan (verified owner)

This book is a great addition to in-person CBT, or someone wanting to learn more about the steps.

  45. Geoffrey Hair (verified owner)

I laughed at his story in the introduction which was a good attempt to connect everyday situations into a learning curb. I also found his advice on CBT very basic but structurally sound. It was and is a good read. I enjoyed it.

  46. Rachel (verified owner)

  47. MRH (verified owner)

Great worksheets. Would have liked more educational reading material with instructions and understanding for clients why they are doing these worksheets.. basically maybe a user manual for the clinician

  48. Sehnaz Phillips (verified owner)

Good book to have. simple but nice

  49. Dbrookeb (verified owner)

Great for reproducible handouts but not a lot of variation between the content in each chapter

Excellent book and I have used non-stop since purchasing.

  51. Jose M. Chaidez (verified owner)

Good for the easy of not having to use imagination

  53. Bridget Hahn (verified owner)

    Must have for any therapist

  54. Dawn Perez (verified owner)

Loads of therapeutic activities at your fingertip for a busy therapist who wants to provide quality CBT activites!!!

  55. Ron Peralta (verified owner)

Very good coverage of a complex topic and clear and helpful workbook

  56. J. Park (verified owner)

It would be useful to be able to download the exercises for clients to take home. I am having the binding cut off so I can make copies.

  57. jd (verified owner)

    Great value

  58. Nathan Petersen (verified owner)

  60. michael&christy (verified owner)

I use CBT a LOT in my workplace and this book provides a number of great handouts and helpful material for patients. Easy to follow and understand. Would highly recommend it!

  61. Avril F (verified owner)

It’s a huge workbook. Hopefully you have a therapist/counselor to help you get through this book. You can do it on your own though if you need to. There’s a lot of deep stuff to uncover & plans to put in place. Also, this is not a workbook to rush through. You need to take your time & pace yourself so that you don’t get overwhelmed.

  62. Valderene (verified owner)

A lot of helpful sheets to work with people with different disorders!! I like it a lot!!

  63. Shaundra (verified owner)

Very repetitive skills; was hoping for more variety of skills. However, it shows how skills can be applied to multiple problem areas. Excited to use this with my therapy clients and recommended it to a few of them.
