Have you suffered trauma in the past? Have you been wanting to relieve unusual symptoms but can’t seem to get to the bottom of it? Stored trauma can often lead to physical pain and the psychological anguish that comes along with it. Trauma can be defined as anything that results in us being stuck in a physical, emotional, or behavioral pattern.
Want to say goodbye to all of the overwhelming & complex info out there & discover what easily works for you? You see, using somatic healing to your benefit doesn’t have to be difficult, even if you feel like you’ve already tried everything. You don’t need to spend thousands on therapy sessions either.
In fact, it’s easier than you think.
Cross your hands over your chest, so you are making a butterfly shape with your fingers pointing up. Then, link your two thumbs together. Use your hands to tap alternately on your chest’s left and right sides. This forms a connection between the left and right sides of your brain. Take note of your surroundings and anything going on. This should help calm you, give you a feeling of peace, & help you process whatever current issue causing you stress might be.
A study in 2020 focused on how social pain, i.e., isolating yourself or negative experiences of interaction, can result in physical pain. Something like trauma, often seen as a mental aspect, can manifest itself in physical reactions such as headaches, muscle tension, fatigue, and stomach trouble.

Definitely love ❤️ the PTSD Part…
What a great book… definitely recommend this book.. I have been to so many therapists after my husband died in 2007 and then my dad in 2010 – I wasn’t aware of how many things I was holding back – this book has helped tremendously…
A 10 star in my opinion…. Love it and the techniques are incredible.

I don’t recommend a lot of books, but halfway through this one I already had a list of people I wanted to share this one with. I enjoyed the author’s way of addressing trauma, and explaining that everyone experiences trauma differently. What is traumatic for you may not be for me, and vice versa, and that’s ok. The exercises for working through the trauma are clear, concise, and very relatable. This was a great read, and I found it enlightening.

This book goes into so much depth to teach you how your mind and body connect, and how to heal yourself. I’ve always struggled with anxiety, and this book provides a new perspective to understand how trauma is stored. It also includes exercises that help you to feel more in your body, and help you become more peaceful and happy.

If your like me and read this book to help others, be prepared to go through the work and help yourself also.
I was so excited when I saw the title of this book. I knew I would be able to gain great knowledge to help my child but had no idea that I would work on my inner child. I have done tapping before so I was excited to see that exercise.
I am working with my child to give her other coping skills that she has not been taught by her therapist. She has made improvements by leaps and bounds.
This is a well written and well thought out book. The knowledge is amazing.

I was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer March 17, 2021 called Essential thrombocytopenia, it is not terminal, however there is no cure, but it is managed by taking chemo pills daily to maintain my levels which weaken my immune system which is what originally lead me to finding your books. As I am looking for ways to heal my traumas in hope of removing the dis-eases in my body that is caused by the trauma.
Everyone of Angela’s books have been so helpful and I’m grateful to have found them

The Book is very well written explaining in detailed the definition of what somatic trauma healing is. It is excellent in terms of how the writer gives simple but useful finger tips examples, exercises and techniques for us to use in our daily routines. As a healer is wonderful to continue learning new techniques to apply to ourselves and others. I really love it.

Wish I had listened to this when I got it – it’s one the the books I purchased to share with my partner. Unfortunately her health deteriorated very quickly and we were unable to share this life changing information.
If you have any trauma that you are working with, I highly recommend this book.
I have the audible version, the reader has a very sing song voice, which I find easy to listen to, but it might not be for everyone, so listen to the sample before you buy.
Overall, a big yes from me.

I’ve read a lot of books that cover trauma. I am on a mission to heal the lifelong wounds growing up with parents who are both mentally ill and very abusive.. Most of my life has been one trauma overlapping with another, without adequate time to heal. I can tell you with certainty, at least to date, that this is by FAR the best book I’ve encountered that deals with trauma. The author has a way…of breaking everything down in easily understood language and concepts.. His descriptions of the exercises could use a bit of help, but that’s so minor its probably not worth it to even mention. It’s difficult to explain (in only writing) to someone how to bend and move and contort your body into yoga poses, and if I find that challenging, I am certain the author understands that ~the struggle is real~! I easily read this before bed in two nights. I will save the exercises for tomorrow night, and I’m confident that there will be massive progress achieved after I implement some of the tools he provides. I don’t want to give anything away.. but I’ll just tell you this: the seemingly wonky things he explains to you may seem…different..maybe far-fetched, even. But I have experienced first hand the LEAP of progress that (using one of the methods he describes and recommends with this book) can occur in your life, if you just do the work. Nothing great ever came without stepping outside of my comfort zone, so I might wager believe the same is true with you. It may seem strange, but I encourage you to try the methods anyway. I sure am! And if we look totally weird doing it… then hey, at least there’s two of us doing it so we will both have comfort in THAT! 🙂 Thanks for taking the time to read this. See you on the journey of discovery towards greatness!

I chose this book because it looked like it was going to be an interesting read that provides a very different perspective to health and wellness, and I was not disappointed. It definitely offers interesting insight as the author talks about true body awareness, among other wellness concepts, which is something that I didn’t know about before reading this. But I don’t know how much of this information I actually buy into. So I take the health information with a grain of salt. But still it’s well written and it kept my attention, so four stars for offering me a unique perspective.

Clearly written and easy to understand. I think somatic breathing and body movement are the way to truly heal one”s self. This book gives you clear directions on how to release trauma. Highly recommend.

I really appreciated having mini somatic exercises for each specific technique listed, so I could try out how it feels. The vagus nerve exercises, pendulation exercise, gestalt therapy exercise, and EMDR exercises were all so illuminating to try out. The shaking practices and the movement-based techniques were also super helpful to learn about and apply — great stuff. I’m so grateful I got to learn about these healing modalities. I’ll be sharing it with friends who struggle with trauma and want to take steps to heal themselves.

Many people experience trauma, but some experience much more than others for various reasons. If you’re someone who’s seeking guidance and answers for releasing old wounds, this is your sign to get the book. For me, trauma was my birth right. What a gift, huh? Sometimes, the intergenerational traumas are so much that you feel the effects in the womb. Your body will keep score of your moms trauma, and her moms trauma, and so on. Through decades of trying to find release, nothing helped… until I learned about somatic experiencing which encapsulates numerous ways you can help to release pain from your body.
In another book that I finished recently, the biggest thing I remember was connected to somatic healing. It stated that while observing animals in the wild, they noticed when an animal escaped a predator, it would find a place alone where it was safe and it would vigorously shake its body to RELEASE what it had just been through. Shortly after I read that, I saw a video pop up on my FYP on TT and it was a video of someone moving her body in any way her body wanted to RELEASE. I had nothing to lose so I gave it a go myself. It’s safe to say I wish I’d known this long ago.
That was the day my life changed. It was the day I realized that my inner healing could only come from within. This book aided in teaching me more about the basics to somatic healing modalities so I could dig further in. Something else that’s really interesting to me is qigong, which the book will touch on. I also like the eft tapping and the breathing exercises. All of those modalities are somatic based and they are POWERFUL. Like, here’s a quick example: did you know that you can actually work on simple things that help reset your nervous system and kick it out of fight or flight? Birds singing and chirping help your nervous system. Breath work helps your nervous system. There are si ple tasks you can do to tell your brain YOU ARE SAFE NOW!
There are many ways your body and nervous system can work together to repair the inner damage without using methods that reintroduce you to all of the specifics, like talk therapy for an example. You don’t have to relive it here, you can simply allow your body to release as it needs without forcing it to go back there.
In addition, I seeked out help of a so called “somatic experiencing practioner,” and just as I’d suspected, it caused far more harm than good. Through my many attempts with therapists over the years, I’ve come to realize they seem to be very similar. They seem to have a lot of their own issues and believe it makes them an expert for others. What they often fail to do is to fully heal themselves before taking on the role of helping others which can ultimately be very harmful. Finding this book was my saving grace and helped me to move past the harm the practioner was causing. Those are my thoughts, of course, you may have your own.
If you’ve tried healing through medications and therapists and still landed here, it’s time to find your healing within. Give somatics a try. What do you have to lose?
To close, if you’re not ready to be completely authentic in your space of healing then I’d advise you circle back around when you know you can perform the healing that must be done. You’re going to have to dig deeper than you ever have before. You’ve got this!

This book provides wonderful at-home practices that have not only helped me, but my friends as well. Using the things I’ve learned, I was able to let go of a lot of emotional baggage that was holding me back, leading me to be more present in my life. I experience depression less, I don’t get as angry. I feel calmer and more relief whenever I do the things I’ve learned from this book. I couldn’t find a somatic therapist in my area, so it was a blessing to have found this!

The book is very well researched and organized. It is a great tool for anyone looking to understand and release the trauma that they are carrying. I love how the book has simple exercises that anyone can do to feel relief immediately. The approach is very body centric and I like that very much. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to heal from past traumatic experiences.

This book, “Somatic Healing: Releasing Trauma and Embodying Wellness,” is a powerful resource for anyone seeking healing from trauma. The author, a survivor themselves, provides clear explanations and practical exercises to help readers release pain from their bodies and find inner peace.
The book emphasizes the importance of somatic healing, which focuses on the body’s natural ability to heal, rather than traditional talk therapy that re-introduces trauma. This approach allows readers to move past their pain without reliving the specifics of their experiences.
Key takeaways:
Somatic healing modalities: The book introduces various practices like qigong, EFT tapping, and breathing exercises, which help release trauma from the body.
Simple methods for nervous system reset: Readers learn easy ways to calm their nervous systems, like listening to birdsong or practicing specific breathing techniques.
Body-based healing instead of talk therapy: The author encourages readers to seek healing within themselves through somatic practices, rather than relying solely on therapists who might still be processing their own issues.
This book is a must-read for anyone ready to take charge of their healing journey and explore a powerful alternative to traditional therapy. It’s a reminder that you are not alone and that genuine healing is possible through somatic practices and self-awareness.

I am always weary about books that claim to have the answer to any ailment. However I have the feeling this book could actually help some people with their past traumas. It is worth a try right?

This book is insightful and has a lot of info on somatic therapy, but it’s long and as but worst. Although it offers easy techniques for mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being, it was tough to get through. With that said, it is still a valuable book to add to your collection if you’re into this kind of stuff.
