Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can be a great way to help you heal the trauma that you dealt with as a child. I like this book because you can take everything at your own pace. There is plenty of worksheets and journal prompting that can help you start to work through the emotions and trauma so that you can heal.

  2. glenda (verified owner)

The book goes over healing the wounded inner child. It goes over what is inner child, how to start healing the inner child. It also goes over what is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and how it can help with the inner child with art therapy, writing, music, and more.

  3. Debbie (verified owner)

Both of these books in the series are 5 stars. They are easy to read and the exercises are uncomplicated. You really do get results though.

The book offers step-by-step guidance on how to understand your past experiences and their impact on your current life, as well the exercises and activities helps you a lot manage difficult emotions and develop healthy coping mechanisms.
It doesn’t just provide theoretical concepts but rather, it offers real-life examples and exercises to help you put the concepts into practice.

  18. Jahsungod (verified owner)

This was a wonderful read as I sit in jury duty, waiting. As a counselor, I know many of the techniques but now I am more inspired to dutifully apply them to my own life as I have encouraged those I’ve counseled to do.

  19. JG (verified owner)

I found the exercises easy to do. This book was very helpful in allowing me to realize things I need and can do to help my Inner Child heal. I will keep it in my library to refer back to often.

  20. Leeanne (verified owner)

I purchased the workbook. I have been working through this non stop since it was delivered. I have been going through some severe anxiety and working with a therapist. This book seemed like a good fit. I have really discovered how verbally, mentally and physically I had been abused as a child. When you stuff your inner child down, the pain gets stuck too. This workbook has unpacked emotions and trauma and allowing it to release. It doesn’t change the past but it helps lead you to process it. If you put the work in, it can be very liberating. Highly recommend.

  21. Booker Boes (verified owner)

I read this book in one sitting. Now, the hard part is to go back through and work each section. I’m 62 years old.. please don’t waste your life in the negative. It’s your life…fight for it!! You are worthy and loved!

  28. D Will (verified owner)

I picked this book up with a few different clients in mind. This is an excellent tool to work through adverse childhood experiences as an adult. The way it is written makes healing more accessible for adults with varied educational experiences. I recommend it.

  29. C (verified owner)

This CBT workbook adeptly guides readers to identify past patterns, manage emotions, and build resilience.

  30. Alex (verified owner)

Getting over trauma is never easy. I personally think that recognition is the first step and then this book totally helps in the healing journey. This workbook does a good job of explaining how CBT can help people overcome their past traumas, heal, and live better.

  31. Winnie Wong (verified owner)

I got this workbook from a friend and haven’t stopped working on it since it came. This book felt right for me as it helped me see how I was hurt as a child. When you hide your young self, the hurt stays hidden too. This workbook helped me find my feelings and it’s letting them go. It doesn’t change the past, but it helps you deal with it. If you really try, it can help you feel free.

  32. Sal (verified owner)

This books is definitely interesting and, at times, illuminating too. It does have a lot of useful information on how to deal with the traumatised child within each of us and how to come to liberate and accept our past.

My only critique pertains to the choice of formatting. There is a never-ending and frustrating, numbers of paragraphs, subparagraphs and, especially, a never-ending numbers of bullet points. This is on top of the fact that many points are just simply repeated over and over and make some parts quite redundant. I noticed this in particular when towards the ends of the book the ‘boundaries’ parts were repeated over and over again by rephrasing them (as it happened with other topics as well), making some parts unnecessary filling.

This could have been an exceptionally informative short book to go back to in times of needs, but rather it is a 116 pages book that, in my opinion, reads and feels like it is 500 pages long.

However I want to thank the author for the time they spend writing it and for helping out regarding some specific topics that made me think and resonate with.

  33. Jen (verified owner)

This book legit saved my life. I had no idea for 48 years I was suffering from an inner wounded child. My therapist recommended this book and it changed and saved my life.

  34. Rachel (verified owner)

I have plenty of baggage from my childhood and even since. There are many useful techniques and I look forward to seeing a difference in my own self. I know it won’t be overnight but I can’t wait to break the cycle so I don’t put my own baggage on my kids.

  35. Chill636 (verified owner)

Good intro to topic. However if you are looking for a more comprehensive guide with me frustrating format, then you will need to purchase another book

  36. Megan<span class="a-icon a-profile-verified-badge"><span class="a-profile-verified-text"></span></span> (verified owner)

This is good content but could use more practical exercises for the journey. It does seem to be a little redundant as well. However, if you’re new to the topic and are just starting on a healing journey, then this is a good book to start with. It will help you unpack emotions and trauma that has happened in your past while softly leading you to process them and change the story around it so it can be released with compassion.
