Wow! This Growth Mindset Workbook is motivating, engaging, and kid friendly.
The activities included within Ms. Curley’s Growth Mindset Workbook are not only positive and relatable to kids – it encourages them to think deeper about certain scenarios. Some of the topics included are making mistakes, being a creative thinker, goal setting, and more! This truly makes the perfect birthday present or holiday gift!

As we struggle with COVID, I find my students and grandchildren struggle even more. This book made things better – for them and for me. In small, bite-size pieces, this book challenges and empowers kids to build self-regulation as it encourages them to celebrate daily successes. The “projects” are easy-to-complete and fun. My grandchildren loved them, as did my 13 YO students.

I recommend this book for all who want to bring hope and joy back into the lives of children. If you use only one to two things from this book, your money will have been well spent. But you won’t. You will find that all of the activities are fun, worthwhile, and effective.

I received an electronic version of this book as a gift from the publisher. The opinions are my own.

This book is an absolute must for parents, educators, and students. It’s well organized and promotes a positive and healthy attitude towards learning. It’s full of exercises to help the mind grow and learn from mistakes through a strategic process. Through it’s creative exercises, it challenges students to engage in mind opening solutions and think outside the box. I will be using this book with my 7 year old son over the years. And certainly save it for my 4 year old daughter.

I was sent this book to review. I have personally taught with the author and she is a wealth of knowledge for social emotional learning. The first thing I noticed was how beautiful the book is. I love how inclusive the illustrations are. As a teacher of English Language Learners it is often difficult to find resources. However, I love how easy this book is to navigate and the activities included. This is a must buy if you are in the classroom!

My daughter is enjoying working through this growth mindset workbook. The examples are relatable so my daughter can easily see herself in each situation. She is a perfectionist and pretty hard on herself. Since starting the workbook, I have already seen positive changes in her mindset! She is more accepting of her mistakes and less critical!

The great Greek philosopher Aristotle taught that what distinguishes humans from animals and plants is their minds, their ability to think. If they do not use their minds, he wrote, they are no better than animals and plants. This book contains 55 activities that help kids aged 8-12 think creatively, solve problems, and have fun doing it. It tells kids that making mistakes is natural, how to become a problem solver, how to keep trying, setting goals and not giving up. It is filled with fun exercises, tells about challenges, how to change things, stories of people who did not give up, and much more,

I’ve done the Growth Mindset book club with several fellow teachers and am familiar with the unique approach to learning and education. It is nice to see a workbook that can be used in the classroom to help students learn to learn. This workbook is loaded with many various exercises that are practical and interesting for children of most ages. The activities are compelling, and the activities are easy to teach. Overall, it’s a great workbook for applying a growth mindset to the activities offered in it.

  13. Amy Miller (verified owner)

This workbook is clearly lined out. The activities don’t take a lot of time, but they do make ya think. I’m happy to use it with my middle/high school kids. It makes a great supplement for families, or we are using it for homeschooling.

This workbook is a combination of problem solving tasks, emotion management, fun and general mental well being. The tasks vary and suit my 10 year old emotional development level. They make her check and turn to herself and assess her thoughts and actions. I recommend it.

I have a 7 year old daughter that is very hard on herself and is often unwilling to try new things, Her teacher has mentioned to me a few times about discussing a growth mindset with her. I decided this work book would be an interactive way to go over this concept with her. The book is well organized and set up in a way that does not feel overwhelming for a child or a parent.

We decided to do one reading and activity section each day. To my surprise, my daughter began writing away in the journal portion after reading a bit. This book does a great job making kids feel comfortable and encouraging them to not fear mistakes. What I love most about this book is, it has been the spark to start a few really fun and important conversations in our family.

I really like the idea of changing from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset in order to foster a love of learning in children. This activity book is packed with ideas for helping kids to see the value of making mistakes and using those mistakes constructively for growth. It is such an encouraging read. Lots of colorful illustrations and full of diversity. Perfectly giftable.

Growth Mindset Workbook for Kids is designed to work with the original Growth Mindset theory from the author, Carol Dweck. Most kids will not read Dweck’s book, but they can read this workbook. It works best if the parents know about the Growth Mindset, which will enable the parent to help the child understand why the activities are in the book. Some activities including brief writing prompts, drawing pictures, and talking about particular mindsets and different ways of thinking. All of them are designed to change the mindset of a child. This is also being used in academics, from grade school to college curriculum, so the earlier the child knows about this theory, the better prepared they will be. Overall, I recommend this workbook.

I have a 9 year old daughter. I handed her this book and didn’t say a thing. She flipped through it, and randomly picked a page to do, and hasn’t touched it since. Having said that, I think its a great tool for opening up discussions about failures/successes and things of that nature. I don’t expect her to work through this page by page by any means, but I really like a lot of the ideas in this book. She is homeschooled so a lot of the scenarios are not applicable now, but she was in public school for a time so she can imagine these scenarios now.

  19. Vanessa Gillies (verified owner)

This book is very helpful for parents wanting to teach their children about understanding the way they think about things and why they do.

I did not get this book for my kid but myself. I wanted to learn how to apply the growth mindset to my parenting skills to teach a 3.5-year-old. It is difficult to say if there is any influence. However, I can say that the book shows me the way I can improve myself as a parent.

On the other hand, I also believe the book will help my daughter’s self-improvement once she can read and follow the book by herself.

My kids. They’re “bored.” Nevermind the toys, games, etc. I tossed them this book, and told them they needed to find something, so they did. I liked that they found various activities that helped them with personal growth AND were fun for them. That’s perfect!

  25. Buy tastic (verified owner)

Amazing book that guides kids into the growth mindset to be able to thrive at every single stage. It is recommended for 8 to 12 ages, however as a mother of toddlers, I found it very informative to help my little ones since this early stage in developing a growth mindset rather than a fixed one.
One of the first activities, is a quiz to understand what kind of mindset they have and explain how to continue building a growth mindset or develop one in case is currently identify as a fixed mindset.
It has a lot of exercises and scenarios for them to think and analyze how they have felt or what would they do as well as suggestions on how to do/act or react to them.
Very positive, colorful and full of great information for youngsters and their parents.

My ten year old daughter and I live this. Very on target with growth mindset teaching and encouraging.

  27. Russell Rosen (verified owner)

DO you have little ones who give up on tasks they deem too hard, or get easily frustrated, or even have a streak of perfectionism? This book, if used to teach, can walk children though positive mental thinking on how to achieve goals. Learning the difference between: “Im never going to be able to swim” to “I cant swim yet but if i keep practicing ill be the best swimmer in my town!” Its a gift that keeps giving through all troubling issues that arise in our lives, even as adults

I bought this for my 7-yr old daughter who was struggling with a touch of anxiety and confidence related to math and also a team sport. She spontaneously picked up the workbook and started working through some of the exercises by herself. We then worked through some of it together. I found the exercises a great opportunity for self reflection and was really happy that this format is so accessible to my child.

    RECOMMEND!

Bought for my grandkids. They both love doing them.

I didn’t realize this book would be mostly centered around their growth mindset for school situations. It has been a little frustrating reading through it with my 8 year old and having to either straight up tell her none of this applies to her because she doesn’t have to worry about grades or cafeteria situations or try to come up with an alternate situation that she can relate too. The situational exercises are basically useless for us but the stories and explanations are fine for getting the idea of growth mindset.

  33. Hayley Elkins (verified owner)

This is recommended for kids at least 8 years old but my 7 year old is grasping and loving this one SO much! We home school so each week we dive into a chapter and then spend the week applying what we learn for practice. My daughter is a very perfectionist type, she’s hard on herself when she isn’t “good” at something right away or is quick to give up when discouraged, but that’s not something I want her to take with her as she grows up. This book is very informative and fun, she notices characters in books/shows/games, or even people in public and points out whether they have a growth or fixed mindset, and she recalls moments of her past where she has had either a fixed or growth mindset. And ultimately in the moment, we actively decide if it would be more helpful to jump into a growth mindset (it always is😊)
Bringing this awareness to her, has shifted her mindset tremendously, I would recommend to any and everyone!
We also have the mindfulness book and it has been equally as amazing at helping her identify herself and her mindset more.

I’m an LPC and often grab this book. The worksheets and activities are fun for my clients and are so relevant to a wide range of presenting problems. I also really like the scenarios as they are very relatable.
