Ignore Crystal Selph review. You could easily do this book with a five year old. Ages seven or eight could probably do this on their own. This book is a crystal explanation of ADHD and is full of esteem-building and coping activities. I am going out on a limb here but I think it is almost a crime NOT to get this into the hands of any ADHD child. Well, at least, it would be a crying shame.

I haven’t used any of the activities yet, but I have looked at them to prepare for a session with a 7 YO, so I’m excited.

The book is great for parents however as a professional, I needed a book to work with students and there are no reprintables.

I got this book for my daughter to use as a tool for her ADHD/ADD and Anxiety combined, particularly in school where she has the most issues. I must say it is beautifully illustrated, written and published. The language is easy to understand and my 5th grader had no problem navigating the book by herself. This is about the 3rd workbook I brought of the 100s I researched and it has by far been the best. I love the positive and empowering tone of the book. The activities engage the child, builds understanding, skills, self awareness and consciousness. I left in on kitchen counter and by the time I went to tell my daughter about it she had already picked it up, looked through it and was looking forward to working on it. We have done some pages together but she is able to self guide and direct herself. If she is in school and struggling she finds the section related to her current issue and either completes the pages or reviews them. It has helped her focus better just in that she wants to get her class work done so that she can use the free time to work on the Workbook. She has already asked for a second one to refill once she complete this one. To be honest as an adult the struggle with ADHD/ADD combined I almost want to get a copy for myself. I would recommend this book to anyone that ha a child with ADHD or ADD, especially if that child is struggling with the self image from it. This book will definitely empower them.

I have two, possibly 3, children that have ADHD. They have enjoyed doing the 1st section so far and we all alhave learned more about what ADHD is. I am excited for them to get to some actvivites I perused through. Colorful pages. Very informative that all age levels (from about 2 grade as the lowest) to adults to understand.

*Update*
We finished this book in just a few days! She could not put it down, we loved it!
I was a little concerned that it was too advanced for my child when we first started it. Some of the paragraphs are lengthy and its hard enough to hold an ADHD child’s attention. But I was wrong. While she may skim through a longer paragraph here and there, I remind her it’s important to get all the information so we can better understand. She hesitates then goes back and reads it or allows me to read it aloud. She is really benefiting from this book! She looks forward to doing it every night in her bed with me. And its not too advanced for her. (She is 8.) We are flying through it! Its really that interesting to her.

Great but a lot too advanced for my 6 year old – I wish there was one for younger kids.

I read through this workbook as soon as I got it and I am highly impressed! It looks like a great tool for understanding and working through ADHD, however it’s definitely more suitable for older kids. I was hoping I could do the activities with my Five year old, but even guided, I think they would be a little too advanced. Maybe better suited for ages nine and up! Will be saving this for a few years!

Wow! I adore this book! Kelli has put together a set of activities that increase awareness of ADHD symptoms, empower communication and boost self-confidence. 5 stars all the way.
Although I haven’t started it with my 8 year old yet, it’s already given me reminders on beneficial talking points during difficult times.
It’s a lovely book. Don’t think twice – just get it.
(And remember: don’t beat yourself or your child up if you don’t finish it!)

I bought a similar book about anger and LOVE it. I love how this book has a positive spin and opens things up for dialogue. I haven’t used this with my students yet but the book seems similar to the anger book as far as purposefulness. This book is well made and visually appealing as well.

We’re working through this book with our 7yo son currently. It’s something we’re working on together, as a family. I really like how the book explains ADHD in a way that my 7yo can understand .. something I was struggling to do on my own. There are fun exercises to complete and my son is actually interested in participating because it’s not boring. He’s able to identify with symptoms, tendencies and things that he could “practice” or work on to help make his day better. He loved the fact the book started by calling him an “investigator” … I’m now incorporating that into my language with him as I try to explain ways we could have handled things differently, etc.

Love this book. It gives a lot of information about ADHD. Me and my child read it together so she can have a better understanding. Very informative and entertaining.

I absolutely love this book. I purchased this for my son. This helps him think about his adhd in a healthy mindful way. It also helps break down the emotions that are elevated with adhd. We are 25% through and I only wish that some of the activities delve deeper than a page or two. That is why I only gave this 4 stars and not 5.
AMBER QUISTAD (verified owner) –
My son asks if we can work in this work book. He’s 10 almost 11 and loves learning about himself and that there is a solution, a way for him to be his best self and be proud of all parts of him ADHD included. He is more confident and it’s been a blessing to seen him, feeling happier more appreciative of who he is and what he has to offer the world.

This book wasn’t what I was expecting since I purchased it to use in my therapy practice for my ADHD kids. I do find it useful however. I wanted to have something with more activity sheets and less drawing spaces but it’s still useful. The kids enjoy the activities so far.
Chris Tunez (verified owner) –
This workbook has been a great help for my son. I highly recommend it! When he is feeling discouraged he will ask to do an activity from this workbook. I am very grateful to have it as a resource. It helps my son see his ADHD as a strength, and understand it so much better! He doesn’t see his ADHD as something that just makes life hard and puts him at a disadvantage. He sees it as a gift that gives him a lot of different strengths, and makes him special.

Quite thick, and full of lots of activities. Not sure I’ll be able to get my kid to do this. I was expecting something a little different.

SUPERB BOOK!!! Each morning, before remote school, I sit down with my son (after he’s taken his ADHD med at breakfast) and we do one activity together. He loves thinking about feelings now and knows strategies for handling big feelings and frustration. I am able to teach my son some serious emotional intelligence, as well as self-love and acceptance, because of this book. He’s 8, but this would work for older kids, too. I feel so grateful to have found this book. Thank you, to whoever wrote it. You’ve helped my son have a better life. Literally.

I love love love this book! I wish it was dry erase so I could use it with my son later on. It has helped my daughter understand her emotions so much better than I could ever imagine! Thankyou to everyone who made this book!
Aly (verified owner) –
This book is so informational not only for kids but for me as well. However, I think it was a little too advanced for my 6 year old. I think about 8 years old would be the best age to grasp the concept or understand the level of wording. It is a really great book, I’d recommend it..
Brenda (verified owner) –
I am surprised my son enjoyed the books so much. We are just learning about his diagnosis. The information is well-organized in a way that engages the child to want to learn more. I walked away for a few minutes after we completed some activities. When I came back, he had completed even more activities. He then shared with the rest of the family – educating all of us about ADHD.
My favorite part is that the ADHD information and activities are presented in a positive way that helps build a child’s self-image. This was very important to us with just learning of the diagnosis. My child has been so hard on himself. I am grateful for the uplifting, inspirational tone throughout the entire book. THANK YOU!

My 9 year old daughter loves this book. We talked about her special needs and she initially got upset and started to cry. Then we looked at the book and she saw how it could help…its good for her to help understand where help can come from.

This is one of the best resources I have come across to use with my daughter. It has helped her better understand herself while also building her self esteem. It has a variety of lesson activities so it is great for kinesthetic learners. She was engaged every time we did a lesson.

Only complaint is my adhd near 11 year old worked pretty quickly and did several worksheets in 10 minutes while I was cooking dinner–meaning the book will be finished by end of next week probably. I’ll try to limit him to one page a week or something. He seems to like it alright, just does the same thing as with schoolwork and rushes through it. I suspect this would be better for medicated adhd kids who could actually take their time and focus and learn from the book. If they can’t slow down and process it, it’s just wasted–with mine, anyway. Maybe a timer would help so they would stop after one page.

I bought this to do with my son who has ADHD. We really enjoyed 80 percent of the activities. My son is 8 and I would recommend for his age but I don’t think I would recommend for a younger age. There is ALOT of small print reading about ADHD which is great for my son but I don’t think a smaller child would enjoy it other than some of the activities

My 8 year old has combined type and has been enjoying this book. We go through it together and he is already learning about himself and I am learning about him as well

I have this book as digital. I’m printing for my kid the activities, she is almost 8 y.o. We haven’t cover much yet, but so far there were 3-4 times mentioned Karate as a an example provided to support the subject explained in different chapters. But if my kid doesn’t know much what Karate is, I have to give her my own examples all the time instead. Inconvenient and Karate subject is not so common worldwide in childhood.

The way this book describes ADHD to a younger audience is very understandable my son loved doing the workbook pages in there and he felt better knowing more about ADHD and the fact that things are made up in his head.

Love this workbook! My child begs me for more pages every night! Really explains things on a child level! Really great for helping them know all about ADHD and why it makes them great!!!
Must get!!!!!!!

Very glad I purchased this. It has a lot of activities, worksheets and clever ideas. As a counselor I can definitely use every bit of this book. It’s rare that this happens!

I absolutely love this workbook. My 10 year old suffers from ADHD, and unfortunately I do as well so it is harder for me to read through ADHD books for adults to figure out how I can help him.
The book starts with an explanation of what ADHD is and what it means, all written in a language that kids really understand. It is a very positive explanation of ADHD so kids don’t feel like they are dumb or there is something bad about this.
It also goes into the types of ADHD with some characteristics of each type and a cute nickname for each type. I had fun talking through them with my son- I compared it to the different houses of Harry Potter- which house is he in?
We then started into the activities which included a checklist of ADHD attributes. It got my son to really open up to me and talk through some of the difficulties that he goes through and also feel like he is not alone in this. Some of the difficulties he was having made him feel like a failure. Now he knows that millions of kids have this and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel!
Normally, my conversations with my 10 year old are just about how his day was and we cover really surface level topics. This book has enabled me to dig down deeper with my child to have more meaningful conversations and bond with him.
I highly recommend this book, in fact I can’t recommend it enough. If you have a child with ADHD, buy this book!

I’m a tutor for an ADHD child and I want to understand her better. Luckily I found this book and watched some informative Ted Talks. After reading it quickly I noticed it will need a few tweaks of the wording for this child. (some examples did not fit.) Young speakers on the Ted Talks explained that modern society constantly reminds the ADHD child why they don’t measure up. This wonderful workbook helps restore self-esteem.

My nine year old girl just goes thru it to find interesting activities. There is too much reading for her. If she was a little older, she might find it better. What I’ve read seems really good and encouraging.

I bought this for my ADHD kiddo to work through and it has been very helpful. We have had lots of good discussions about things and have had our eyes opened about parts of behavior that we didn’t realize were part of ADHD. I highly recommend.

I wish I had found this book years ago. It explains so much not lint for my child but for me as well. It is geared toward the younger kids but has helped my child identify triggers, ways to refocus, empathy and gives tips on school and home life.

My kids have really enjoyed this book, which I was actually surprised about. I didn’t think they would get into it as much as they did.
My only complaint (and reason I didn’t give 5 stars is that I feel that they text size (and perhaps font type) should have been a little larger being that kids are more apt to read a larger font than adults read.
Tabitha (verified owner) –
Our son absolutely loves this book. He has learned so much about his ADHD.
